Track of the week - Crazy Little Thing Called Love

April 14th, 2008

This weeks “track of the week” is Crazy Little Thing Called Love by Queen. The song is a classic and it’s a great song to get your counting up to scratch. It uses a ¼ note hi hat instead of a shuffle which some people might play to this kinda track. Not only is it rather “up tempo” it has a number of stops which need to be mastered as well as some backing vocals if you do that sorta thing! It’s pretty short and sweet but there’s a lot that can be done if you wanna jazz it up a bit. For example, Ric, who’s playing it at my drum recital evening in June is gonna play a short solo in the “Vocal Bridge” instead of just playing the “2” and the “4” on the snare. So give it a listen today and see if you can figure out where the stabs are in the Chorus’s before I tell you tomorrow!
